Lisa Erdmann is another one of our favorite designers that we have enjoyed working with over the years. She has a great sense of style and keen eye for detail.
She and her team designed the elegant and traditional Grand Living Room at this year’s American Red Cross Designers’ Show House. We love the room’s sea-inspired colors and how the design team mixed period antiques, luscious textiles and interesting accents.
Lisa was kind enough to answer some questions for us about her show house inspirations and her design tips for accessorizing the living room.
First, take a look at this beautiful living room, and then see what she had to say below.
Pioneer Linens: Could you tell me a little about your company and your design style?
Lisa Erdmann: Lisa Erdmann & Associates focuses on the client’s objectives for their home first. What do they like, want and need and then we interpret it into a custom design. The process should be enjoyable and fun for our clients.
Pioneer Linens: What was your inspiration for this year’s show house Grand Living Room?
Lisa Erdmann: The architecture of the home and architectural details of the Living Room inspired us. The room was formal but livable, elegant however not so precious that you would not want to sit in and enjoy the room. We think all rooms should be lived in and enjoyed by the families. For colors, we were inspired by the sea. Cool, icy blues, sand colors and an accent of lavender contributed to the elegant, but calm hues and drew in the colors from the stained glass trefoil windows. Upholstered furniture was large and comfortable and interest was added with beautiful, sophisticated English antiques.
Pioneer Linens: Which Pioneer Linens products did you choose for the room and why?
Lisa Erdmann: Napkins with our tea set on the antique tilt table at the far side of the room.
Pioneer Linens: Do you have any favorite products from Pioneer?
Lisa Erdmann: The Bed Linens are amazing. Pioneer offers so many options that our clients always find what they want and love, even if it is created custom for their homes (which we do more often than not).
Pioneer Linens: What are your tips for accessorizing the living room?
Lisa Erdmann: We wanted the room to feel like a real home with beautiful accessories a couple would find while traveling. There should be an interesting story and a memory behind each find. Accessories can change as a new cherished treasure is found and do not necessarily have to match the surroundings. This room has beautiful geodes from Brazil and South America, antique silver from Europe, antique paintings, new paintings venetian lamps and more.
Pioneer Linens: What design advice would you give our customers who may be refreshing their rooms for Spring?
Lisa Erdmann: Seagrass area rugs are an inexpensive way to instantly update a room. New pillows. Also painting is a great option. These easy things can transform a space. Lastly, remove clutter and edit like you would your spring wardrobe.
Thanks so much to Lisa for the wonderful advice and tips!
